Poole Pottery Cameo or Twintone?

Poole Pottery produced many colour ranges in the Cameo and the Twintone glazes. For a long time the ranges was produced at the same time and the shapes of the two ranges were largely the same.

Many people seem to confuse the two ranges but in fact they can easily be distinguished. Firstly the Cameo glaze has a much glossier finish, whereas Twintone has a more matt or silky finish. The other, more obvious way to differentiate between them is to look at a cup or jug. The inside of a Twintone cup will be in the complimentary colour of the "twin tones". For example the Twintone range of Sky Blue and Dove Grey will be Dove Grey on the outside and Sky Blue on the inside. In the case of the Cameo cup, the outside will display the main colour (eg Celeste, Blue Moon, Celadon), and the inside of the cup will be white.

I hope that helps a bit.

Enjoy your tableware.
