ROYAL DOULTON CARNATION (H5084)

I never cease to be amazed by the way things work in this business.

For months I have been searching for quality items of Royal Doulton's beautiful Carnation pattern. Eventually, I had the opportunity to purchase a large quantity of "as new" items and as a result we were able to fill most of our outstanding orders.

Then, as so ofter seems to happen, I was offered another large quantity of Carnation, again in "as new" condition. It was too good an opportunity to miss. This is one of the most popular ranges produced by Royal Doulton and I am delighted to have dinner plates, bowls, cups, saucers etc in stock.

If you have got this beautiful pattern, make sure that you contact us before we have sold out again. I do not expect it to last long.

Regards

Discontinued Tableware from Marks and Spencer

Marks and Spencer is doubtless one of the biggest names in the UK retail business, so it is hardly surprising that they have sold an enormous amount of tableware. However, just like other tableware brands, most of the patterns that they have sold, have now been discontinued.

In typical Marks and Spencer style, many of their brand name patterns have been produced by some of the finest tableware manufacturers in the UK.

Hornsea Pottery were responsible for such patterns as Harvest and Autumn Leaves. Both of these ranges were sold in enormous quantites and are still popular today. In fact, besides the pottery items produced by Hornsea for Marks and Spencer, items such as kitchen scales, linen tableware, and cutlery were also produced in these ranges. We currently have stocks of many of these items available at www.replaceyourchina.com

At a later date Royal Doulton were producing for M & S. They were responsible for some lovely ranges such as Lumiere, Connaught, Felsham, Hampton and Millbrook. Once again all of these patterns have been discontinued.

Now, much of the modern tableware from Marks and Spencer, is produced for them abroad. I suppose that this is hardly surprising when you view the diminishing size of the UK tableware industry. Still, if you are lucky enough to be the proud owner of some of the discontinued ranges, don't be afraid to contact us or visit our web site so that you can top up after breakages or even expand your table settings to cater for any additional guests.

Enjoy your tableware.

Do You Suffer From Stuck Ramekins?

One of the joys of running a china replacement service is the feedback and unexpected messages that one sometimes received from clients.

A previous Poole Pottery client emailed me today and with her permission, I have reproduced the content of her email below:

"Hi Chris,

Two years ago, I bought several ramekin dishes from your pottery replacement service to replace two of mine that had stuck together. I had tried all the recommended separation solutions, but to no avail.
Yesterday, I came across my 2 original dishes and tried again to separate them and, to my delight, they almost flew apart. I had left them for about 18 months with the residue of vegetable oil that I had used to try to ease them apart and it had crusted around the upper dish and must have eventually seeped through where they were stuck firmly together, thus lubricating them.
Just thought that you could pass on this to anyone else who has the same problem.
Best wishes.
Susan"

At first I thought to myself that the advise was unlikely to come in handy, but when I thought a bit further, I decided that at some time or other most of us must have come across a situation where one ceramic items was jammed inside another. I remember having to carefully smash a ceramic flower pot in order to retrieve a bowl that had become jammed inside. Never again, I will just soak it in vegetable oil for two years.

Any useful tips are always gratefully received. Just add them to the "Comments" section.

Chris
